The other to his son James Pottinger of Victoria from a cousin Charles Drever of Edinburgh Scotland and dated 31 December 1916. The 1888 letter states "Charlie...keeps a small grocery shop and seems to be doing very well. Mother says both Maggie and him are getting very old like..." In the 1916 letter it states "Uncle Charles, your mother's youngest brother, and his wife Margaret Sabiston both died in Kirkwall and, as you will probably know, without issue."
