Wm. P. Tweedy's parents were Charles Tweedy (b. New Ross area, Co. Wexford in 1778) and his second wife, Margaret Clegge (1795-1877). Charles died in 1844. He had 2 children by his first wife, Miss Byron - John (1807-1848) and Suszannah. He and Margaret had 11 children - Wm. P., Deborah, Darius, Charles, Robert, James, Ephraim, Thomas, (all born in Ireland) and Elizabeth, Abigail and Mary born in Canada.

Charles Tweedy's parents were John Tweedy and Miss Crozier.

All of this information comes from a family history called " Charles Tweedy of Wexford, Ireland and Lombardy, Ontario: The Story of an Upper Canadian Pioneer Family" by Miss Anna Jane Tweedy (1863-1948) Smith's Falls, Ontario, 1946976

Mrs. Wallace of Ramsay, Dies Suddenly.

It caused quite a surprise when the news reached town on Saturday evening of the death of Mrs. Chas. Wallace, which occurred in the afternoon at her home on the 7th line Ramsay. Mrs. Wallace had been ailing for a week, but nothing serious was anticipated until Saturday morning when acute Bright's disease set in and collapse followed a few hours later. Mrs. Wallace was born in Lombardy, Leeds Co., in 1849, and was 54 years of age. She was the daughter of of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Tweedie, whose home is now in Toronto, and this is the first death in their family circle of ten. Mr. Wallace predeceased his wife by twelve years, and the children, ten in number, who are the chief mourners today, have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. They are Mrs. Wm. Snedden, Miss Jennie, Charles and John, at Lumsden, Assa., James of Newark, N. J., and Milton, Harry, Osborne, Lizzie and Maisy at home. The funeral took place this morning to the 8th line Ramsay cemetery. The deceased lady was a prominent member of the Carleton Place Methodist church, and the floral tributes, which were numerous, included one from the ladies of the church. A very large concourse of mourners attended the remains to the place of interment. The pallbearers were Messrs. Osborne Tweedy (deceased 's brother), John McArton, Alex. Mc......, John Cummings, Walter Black, Milton Wallace

I am descended down from the Charles Tweedy you mention (his parents were John Tweedy and Miss Crozier). My grndmother was Elizabeth Tweedy who married my father William Kelley.I have developed the Tweedy tree for the past 7 years with extensive research both hein Ontario, the USA and Co. Wexford in Ireland when I was there in 2001 and have over 5,000 names in the database with is now about 600 meg in size. I have Anna Jane's booklet along with many other Tweedy booklets. While n Fethard-On-Sea, Co. Wexford in 2001 I met with Nicholas and Tux Tweedy and took a photo of Charles Tweedy's signature from 1828 in one of the parish records. I also have most of the parish records from the area of Templetown, Tintern, Fethard and other area parishes.

=====

It should be noted that in the 1881, 1891, and 1901 census records for the family of William Wallace and Margaret Browning, (Charles Wallace's uncle and aunt), there is notation of an Arthur Wallace, born 22 October 1876, grandson. As yet, I have been unable to determine Arthur's parentage although it is curious that Frederick Wallace, born 21 October 1876 to Charles Wallace and Alice Tweedy and Arthur both seem to disappear from records. Frederick would have been the great-nephew of William and Margaret which could have been interpreted as grand-son, in census records
